Delete Your MerlinRead Account

MerlinRead allows you to permanently delete your account and all associated data directly from the mobile application.

Important: This Action Cannot Be Undone

Deleting your account will permanently remove all of your data from our systems. This includes:

Your email address and account information
All reading progress and bookmarks
All chat history and conversations
All preferences and settings
All local app data and cache

Once deleted, this data cannot be recovered.

How to Delete Your Account

Follow these steps to delete your MerlinRead account:

1 Open the MerlinRead app on your mobile device (iOS or Android).

2 Navigate to Settings by tapping the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner of the app, then select "Settings" from the menu.

3 Scroll to the bottom of the Settings screen to find the "Account" section.

4 Tap the "Delete" button in the Account section. This will open a confirmation dialog.

5 Type "DELETE" in the confirmation field to confirm that you want to permanently delete your account.

6 Tap "Delete Account" to complete the deletion process. Your account and all data will be permanently removed.

What Data Is Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:

Account Information: Email address, username, Firebase authentication identifiers
Reading Data: All reading progress, bookmarks, and reading positions for all books
Chat History: All conversations and chat messages with the AI reading companion
Usage Data: Token usage records and analytics data
Local Data: All cached data stored on your device, including preferences and settings

What Data Is Kept

No data is retained after account deletion. All personal data associated with your account is permanently deleted immediately upon confirmation.

Data Retention Period

Immediate deletion: Your account and all associated data are deleted immediately upon confirmation. There is no retention period or grace period. The deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.

Alternative: Contact Support

If you are unable to access the app or prefer to request account deletion via email, you can contact us at support@mail.merlinread.com. Please include your account email address and a clear request to delete your account.

We will process your request within 30 days and confirm once your account has been deleted.
